2014 election starting now on Arizona roadways

Arizona drivers will start seeing messages targeting two members of the state’s Congressional delegation.

The National Republican Congressional Committee has started running a mobile billboard campaign against Democrats Ann Kirkpatrick and Ron Barber. The billboards focus on the pair’s support of the Affordable Care Act, and the IRS’ role in that law.

Both Democrats won tight races last year. Kirkpatrick beat Republican Jonathan Paton in the 1st District, which covers northern and eastern Arizona, while Barber defeated Martha McSally in southern Arizona’s 2nd District.

Kirkpatrick and Barber are each also targeted as part of the NRCC’s “Red Zone,” which is focused on those Democrats it deems the most vulnerable next year. Earlier this spring, the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee also included the pair in its Frontline program, which is for the most vulnerable Democratic incumbents.
