Glendale city officials discuss the future for Phoenix Coyotes

Glendale city officials met Tuesday with National Hockey League representatives as well as with prospective team owners. Thee groups continue to discuss future plans for the Phoenix Coyotes.A Glendale spokeswoman said the city council will not make a decision regarding the ownership of the Coyotes until all information has been collected and all available options have been considered. Glendale is expected to receive several bids this Friday from venue managers interested in operating the city-owned Jobing.com Arena.

Renaissance Sports and Entertainment has been at the top of the list since early May. The group of investors is led by Canadian businessmen George Gosbee and Anthony LeBlanc.

This week’s meetings are part of a four-year saga over finding an owner and maintaining financial security for the Coyotes that began with declared bankruptcy in 2009. The NHL currently has ownership of the team and wants it to remain in Glendale.
