Arizona Secretary of State Ken Bennett will be in Washington, D.C. Tuesday morning to testify before a Congressional committee. Bennett will address members of the Committee on House Administration, during a hearing on a bill known as the “ Voter Registration Efficiency Act.” That measure aims to improve communication between states, in an effort to reduce the number of people who show up on voter rolls in multiple states.
A spokeswoman said Bennett will discuss Arizona’s experience in a program with similar goals, called the Interstate Voter Registration Crosscheck Program. Arizona is one of 21 states taking part in the program as of this January. It is run by the Kansas Secretary of State’s office.
In addition to Bennett, the Congressional committee will hear from the Elections Director of Michigan and the President of the League of Women Voters.
