Phoenix under excessive heat warning

There's an excessive heat warning in effect, from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m. Wednesday.

Dan Leins of the National Weather Service says we could see record tying heat in metro Phoenix.

"Right in the urban corridor [and] right in downtown Phoenix, that's typically the hottest locations. It can also be pretty hot down toward Gila Bend. Pretty much the entire Phoenix metro-area is going to be hot today," Leins said Wednesday.

Authorities warn excessive heat exposure can lead to critical medical conditions such as a stroke, heart attack and even death.

Leins said it will be slightly cooler this weekend. He says we could see temperatures ranging from 105 to 109.
