As temperatures rise on the Arizona desert, Border Patrol agents say they are getting more and more calls about undocumented immigrants, in trouble. Spokesman Brent Cagen said agents have assisted 177 people in the last 30 days, 52 of them in the past week.
"Not only heat but the amount of water that they have and the amount of food and sustenance that they have is just not enough to sustain that kind of journey," Cagen said.
Agents said human smugglers have no tolerance for those who cannot keep up, often leaving them behind in the desert heat. Cagen said that puts the immigrants in a very dangerous situation.
