Arizona continues to put the housing crisis in its rearview mirror. The foreclosure monitoring firm RealtyTrac said there were 3,800 foreclosure filings in the state during May. Vice President Darren Blomquist said that is closer to normal than to the peak of the housing crisis.
"In 2005 and 2006 the average number of foreclosure filings a month was about 2,300. We got up as high as over 20,000 per month in Arizona, and now we are done to 3,800," Blomquist said.
Arizona was ninth among the states last month in foreclosure filings, a far cry from its number two or three rankings of a couple years ago, and Blomquist said the state will likely move out of the top 10 by the end of this year.
