“This fuel type is driven by the wind,” Sciacca said. “So when the wind stops and our fire fighters are able to get a little closer and go in on that direct, we think we can bump that containment up quickly and that’s our goal.”
Sciacca said gusty winds will continue to drive the fire into tomorrow but that containment chances should improve after that. Hundreds of people have been evacuated from the area and others are being told to be ready to leave, if the blaze moves in their direction.
