Fire managers plan to conduct burnout operations Friday afternoon and will work into the night. Residents in the area will not be evacuated. Burnout operations help to create a buffer between the fire and the community. The process is taking place west of Granite Park Ranch in Mint Creek Wash. Officials said residents in the Levi Estates and Granite Park areas will see fire activity, but will not need to take any action.
As of late Friday afternoon, 6,732 acres were reported burned, according to the Southwest Area Incident Management Team. The fire is 10 percent contained, and there are no injuries to date.
