Arizona's four Republican congressmen have postponed a field hearing they were going to hold Monday in Prescott on what they call IRS abuse and EPA overreach.
Instead, Rep. Paul Gosar will host a memorial service for the victims of the Yarnell fire. Donations will be collected for the victims.
The service is open to the public and will begin at 4 p.m. at the Embry-Riddle Aeronatuical University's Activity Center, Building 83, 3700 Willow Creek Road, Prescott, AZ 86301.
A memorial service for community members will be held in Prescott on Monday night.
Meanwhile, families of the 19 firefighters that were killed in the Yarnell Hill Fire last night are receiving help today. The 100 Club of Arizona, a private organization that assists families of first-responders killed or injured in the line of duty, will be in Prescott throughout the day.
100 Club representative Ciara Franklin said the company will be writing checks of $15,000 to each family.
“We have a survivor’s fund set up for future needs that may come up based on the financial burden. So some of these spouses need that extra support," Franklin said.
Franklin said the club will also offer counseling services to the families, if they request them.
“We’re here for families emotionally and financially,” said Franklin. “Not just today and this week, but in the years to come, we will be with them.”
The 100 Club of Arizona also provides line of duty injury assistance, safety stipends, and scholarships.
