Governor Jan Brewer is defending Arizona's "stand your ground" law in the wake of the verdict in the George Zimmerman case.
Zimmerman was found not guilty after his attorneys claimed he felt threatened with 'great bodily harm' when he confronted by teenager Trayvon Martin. Brewer, who signed Arizona's law in 2010, says nothing in the trial is causing her to have second thoughts.
“I think it's a constitutional right,” Brewer said. “The Zimmerman trial was heart-wrenching because it was a terrible tragedy that should have never happened. It did happen. And justice took its place.”
The Arizona law is somewhat more restrictive than the Florida statute, saying the right to use deadly physical force is linked to someone else's use or threatened use of deadly physical force.
