1 Dead, 8 Rescued After Being Abandoned By Human Smuggler

Border patrol agents have rescued eight illegal immigrants who became distressed crossing the southern Arizona desert. Spokesman Brent Cagen says a ninth member of the group died from heat-related issues after they were abandoned by human smugglers. Cagen says the loss of human life is always a tragedy but that the Border Patrol attempts to prevent situations like this.

Cagen says it is fortunate the group had a cell phone and was able to call 9-1-1 for help.
