Abortions Have Decreased In Arizona According To Annual Report

State health officials said the number of abortions performed in Arizona was down 7 percent from 2011 to 2012. The annual report from the Department of Health Services said 13,340 elective abortions were reported last year. That is down from 14,400 the year before. The report also says over two-thirds of the abortions that were performed were surgical abortions, while the rest were performed through medication.

During 2012, 98 percent of the women getting abortions in the state were from Arizona and 58 percent were between 20 and 29 years old. Just under 80 percent were unmarried.
