PUHSD Enrollment Increases

School Valley districts begin classes this week. One is the Phoenix Union High School District which is looking at a spike in enrollment this year with as many as 500 new students. District spokesman Craig Pletenik said that could make overcrowding an issue.

“When you have more kids show up, you’ve got classrooms that are at capacity, we may have to bring in some more teachers,” Pletenik said.

The district has already hired 150 new teachers for the upcoming school year.
