The race for governor in 2014 is already heating up with one Democratic hopeful getting national media attention for what his campaign calls a joke. Businessman Fred Duval said he was attempting to answer charges that he is boring. Duval's Latino Outreach Coordinator Emily Verdugo said they used Photoshop to put Duval's bearded image onto the Dos Equis beer pitchman's body. Now they are being charged with racism, something Verdugo denies.
“I think the GOP is just afraid that we, in fact, have a very strong candidate in Fred Duval and they are starting early with trying to find ways to smear him,” Verdugo said.
She said the incident had nothing to do with race or the Latino community at all.
