McCain Says A Balance Is Needed Between Preserving US Capabilities And American Privacy

President Obama has announced he wants to reform the government surveillance program. It's a program congressman Pete King has called "a monumental failure of wartime leadership." On Fox News, Sunday, Arizona Senator John McCain said the case of NSA leaker Eric Snowden is an indicator of the relationship between the United States and Russia .

“And clearly, Mr. Snowden’s being granted asylum in Russia is a signal of incredibly bad relations between the United States and Russia and Mr. Putin putting his thumb in America’s eye,” McCain said.

President Obama has also talked about balancing surveillance and privacy, and McCain says there's a crucial balance between preserving U.S. capabilities and making sure Americans are convinced their privacy is not being violated.
