Senator John McCain used the Congressional recess to lobby for immigration reform in front of business leaders in downtown Phoenix.
McCain is touring the state while the Senate is out of session. On Monday he spoke to members of the Arizona and Phoenix Chambers of Commerce. He urged them to ask lawmakers to approve sweeping changing to the nation’s immigration laws, which would provide a path to citizenship for 11 million undocumented immigrants
"We need to get this issue done and behind us, and especially if I might say in the state of Arizona, which has faced so much controversy and so much publicity, it would be great if we saw the entire Arizona delegation support this comprehensive immigration reform," McCain said.
McCain will continue his trip through the state at a town hall meeting in Tuscon Tuesday afternoon.
