Phoenix Residents Can Cast Ballot Starting Monday

Tuesday is election day in Phoenix, and voters will decide on four council seats. Voters do not have to wait until Tuesday. On Monday and Tuesday the city will have 18 voting centers open in Districts 2, 4, 6 and 8 where city council seats are up for election. The voting centers are listed on the city clerk’s website. They are also on the back of the sample ballot pamphlet the city mailed in July.

City Clerk Cris Meyer said there is still time to get those mailed early ballots in.

“Voting by mail counts for 80 to 90 percent of the ballots for city elections. We’ve already received over 65 thousand for this election,” said Meyer. “Voters can turn those early ballots in all way to through by 7 p.m. on Tuesday. At this point it would be best to drop them off at a voting location."

Early ballots in signed affidavit envelopes can be dropped in a ballot box at any of the centers. Voters planning to cast their ballots at the centers will need to show identification.

EDITOR'S NOTE: This story has been modified to reflect that in most cases, one form of identification is enough as long as the driver's license address matches the address on the city's voting rolls. It was incorrectly reported that all voters needed two forms of ID. Review the City of Phoenix Voter Identification guidelines.
