Governor Jan Brewer is back from a week-long trade mission to India , with what she hopes will be future economic development opportunities for Arizona . Brewer says she was in contact with dozens of business and government officials with the financial capability to invest here.
“They were absolutely focused on our location, what we have done, what we can do as far as our taxes,” Brewer said. “And they're not looking for incentives, which is interesting, because they are financially fairly sound. They're not fairly—very, sound.”
Brewer says one specific area of interest is potash, which is used in manufacturing and agriculture. India has none of it, and there are three areas in northeaster n Arizona , where potash could be mined. Brewer says she also discussed promoting Arizona as a tourist destination for a segment of the Indian population that in her words is amazingly wealthy.
