ADOT, DPS Prepare For Labor Day Traffic

The Arizona Department of Transportation is teaming with the Department of Public Safety to help keep traffic moving on I-17 over the Labor Day holiday weekend. They're targeting the area between Black Canyon City and Cordes Junction with highway signs that say 'Safety Corridor—Stay Alert, Stay Alive,' according to ADOT spokesman Doug Nintzel.

“One of the challenges we face with I-17 is the fact that there isn’t that alternate route to send drivers onto,” Nitzel said. “So, traffic backs up.”

Nintzel says ADOT has positioned front end loaders and pavement sweepers along the route in case it's necessary to clean up following an accident.
