NM Senator Recommends Research Lab To Find Best Route For New Transmission Line

A proposed electricity transmission line that would extend from Lincoln County in New Mexico , southeast of Albuquerque, to Pinal County  is facing some challenges.

The Pentagon says the construction of the SunZia transmission line could interfere with training at the White Sands Missile Range . Now, New Mexico Senator Martin Heinrich is suggesting that the Defense Department use a research lab to find ways to allow construction of the line.

But the company behind SunZia says it would have to kill the project if the preferred route is rejected.
