Many High School Students Are Not Prepared For Their Next Year Of Studies

SAT scores came out Thursday, and the results were pretty bleak. The College Board, which sponsors the SAT, said that about 60 percent of college-bound high school kids who have taken the test this year are not ready for the next level of studies. Naybe that is because students worried about the wrong kind of score. So are high school students spending too much time on athletics and not enough on studying?

In the October issue of The Atlantic, Amanda Ripley digs into the topic. Ripley is the author of the book "The Smartest Kids in the World and How They Got That Way."
