Board To Oversee The Distribution Of Property In Warren Jeffs' Sect

A Utah judge will have two dozen candidates to pick from as she names a board to redistribute property in a polygamous Arizona town. The judge is preparing to name five to seven people for a board that will oversee the redistribution of homes and property in Warren Jeffs' polygamous sect on the Utah-Arizona border. District 3 Court Judge Denise Lindberg is searching for people she believes can make decisions independently of any outside influence.

The trust that had managed property in Hildale, Utah and Colorado City, Ariz. was seized by the state of Utah in 2005 over allegations of mismanagement by Jeffs and other leaders of the Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. It holds about 750 homes and parcels worth an estimated $118 million.
