Early Voting Has Started In Some Cities

Depending on where you live, you may have an election coming up, and if you are on the early voting list, you have already gotten your ballot in the mail. Or, maybe you have seen the signs or have even gotten a robocall urging you to either support or oppose school district overrides.

Tracey Benson with the Arizona School Boards Association, which does not take sides in these elections, said there are around 30 districts in Maricopa County that have ballot measures this fall. So, we decided to find out, what exactly is a school district override?

There are other issues on ballots. Some cities are asking voters to approve bonds, essentially temporarily raising taxes to borrow money for specific projects.

Voters in Scottsdale are deciding five questions, which include money for public safety, transportation, parks, libraries and flood control among other projects. In Mesa, officials are asking residents to authorize bonds for public safety and transportation.

Early voting has started. Election Day is Nov. 5.
