Arizona Senator John McCain held a contentious town hall in Phoenix yesterday.
Constituents argued with McCain over issues including immigration reform, his support for Syrian rebels, and the government shutdown.
McCain defended against a claim that the GOP didn’t leverage the shutdown effectively enough to defund the Affordable Care Act.
"When we couldn't succeed, then I said we shouldn't do it because we're going to injure so many people, OK. And that turned out to be true," McCain said.
McCain also said he won’t support a federal ban on assault weapons.
