Determining The Current State Of Arizona's Three Public Universities

The economic downturn hit individuals and institutions hard, and Arizona’s three public universities were not spared. The state legislature cut millions of dollars in funding, and many students were forced to pay higher tuition.

So what is the current state of Arizona’s universities? That was the subject of the "State of Our Universities" event on Wednesday presented by the state board of regents. University Presidents Michael Crow of Arizona State University, Ann Weaver Hart of the University of Arizona and John Haeger of Northern Arizona University were on the panel.

Haeger and Weaver Hart gave their opinion on the state of the universities.  Weaver Hart officially took over leadership in Tucson just about one year ago on November 30, 2012.

Steve Goldstein was a host at KJZZ from 1997 to 2022.
