A senior state economist is pushing for massive federal spending to improve job creation across the country. Aruna Murthy of the Arizona Department of Administration says while the debt is a concern, creating jobs now can mitigate that.
“It’s an issue down the road but you know we could have it at times from other aspects, when people have jobs and they’re spending, that creates further jobs,” Murthy said. “You know that aspect will be magnified if people are put to work.”
Murthy says private investors on hiring are holding back right now because of economic uncertainty. She believes massive federal spending would increase job creation and stimulate the economy.
