The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service this week held a public hearing in northeastern Arizona on a proposal to expand the range of Mexican gray wolves. That followed a similar hearing in New Mexico last month.
The wolf recovery program has been controversial, and this proposed rule change has been no exception - it would expand the wolves’ boundaries as far north as I-40 and as far south as I-10.
Eva Sargent is with the conservation group Defenders of Wildlife and is happy the feds decided to hold a meeting in Arizona.
Another group that’s closely following the proposed rule change is the Arizona Cattleman’s Association. Patrick Bray is its Executive Vice President.
