Arizona CPS Scandal Surprising In Scope

Child Welfare advocates offered suggestions this week on ways to improve Arizona’s Child Protective Services system in the wake of the agency disclosing that more than 6,000 cases have gone unreported.

Linda Spears with the Child Welfare League of America says while she has seen instances elsewhere in which lots of cases don’t get investigated, Arizona’s number is very uncommon. She says child welfare systems tend to be pretty complex.
