Two Arizona bus companies are out of business because of a federal investigation into motor coach safety.
The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration closed 52 bus companies nationwide through Operation Quick Strike. The investigation lasted eight months and included reviews of 340 vehicles. Phoenix-based Autobuses Rayon Inc was closed in November of this year, and Lake Havasu City-based River City Shuttle closed down in June after repeated inspections found violations.
The national investigation cited companies for failures to maintain vehicles, drug and alcohol tests and hours of service violations.
