Three golden eagles were released into the wild near Prescott Friday morning. Arizona Game and Fish Spokesperson Linda Lambert said staff first treated the eagles for injuries at the Adobe Mountain wildlife center in Phoenix.
"And then worked on training them, making sure that they knew how to catch prey, how to steal prey, you know if times are lean and they are not finding something," Lambert said.
Lambert said the golden eagles were set free in central Arizona, because the area has a high concentration of cottontail and jackrabbits which are the birds' main prey. This species is not considered endangered right now.
