Phoenix City Council Welcomes New Members, Deals With Financial Issues

Flipping the calendar to 2014 also means the work of some of Arizona’s elected officials is getting restarted. As of this week, the Phoenix City Council now has two new members, Laura Pastor of District 4 and Kate Gallego of District 8.

Will fresh faces also equal fresh ideas for moving the city in a particular direction? Gallego said the city still has some financial limitations.

Ken Strobeck is executive director of the League of Arizona Cities and Towns. He said he does not anticipate an improving economy or other factors leading to new aggressive legislative pushes in the session that begins in a couple of weeks.
