Former Arizona Governor and Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano will be part of the United States delegation to the Winter Olympics in Sochi next month.
Sunday, on NBC’s ‘Meet the Press,’ she was asked if the recent terrorist attacks in Russia were some sort of test run for an attack on the Olympics.
“But, remember, in the run-up to all the games recently, there have been security issues, security questions; ‘have appropriate preparations been made?’” Napolitano said. “After the games everybody talks about the actual performances, which actually is the point.”
Napolitano says the United States will work as closely as possible with Russia and with the International Olympic Committee, and the other countries there. She says the games should be about the athletes, and believes the U.S. has a terrific team going.
