United States Speaker of the House John Boehner has hired the former head of Senator John McCain’s immigration staff, Rebecca Tallent, to head his effort to win approval of immigration reform legislation.
Democratic Congresswoman Kyrsten Sinema says that’s a good sign.
“The Speaker made an extraordinarily great choice in choosing her,” Sinema said. “If her influence is felt at the U.S. Capitol, that would make me feel more hopeful about the chances for immigration reform.”
Republican Congressman Matt Salmon says there is a commitment to doing something in a piecemeal fashion that reflects GOP values and beliefs of what is good policy.
