Arizona’s Child Protective Services agency has been reinvented, and lawmakers are hoping to use what has been working in other states to safeguard Arizona’s children. Sen. Nancy Barto said one state that can be used as a model is Florida.

“They developed a dashboard that made sure that they were kept accountable, and they involved the community to the extent where they implemented best practices,” Barto said.

She said Florida recognizes a one-size-fits-all approach to CPS will not work. She said nobody is interested in just forming a new agency and slapping a new name on it and calling that reform.
