Plans to redevelop Margaret T. Hance Park in downtown Phoenix continues to move forward Wednesday night. City parks and recreation officials and the Hance Park Steering Committee will unveil the second round of initial master plans to the public in a meeting being held at the Phoenix Art Museum. Acting Parks and Recreation Director Ann Wheat said the city has received a lot of input from the public regarding the 32-acre park.
“The goal is to create a master plan for a vibrant, urban park, and a signature destination that becomes a catalyst for positive change in the community. So, really, while it’s a redevelopment, we’re also looking at the park being transformative to the urban core of this city," Wheat said.
Some of the features in the plans include improved shade areas, more lighting, a skate park, restaurants and a beer garden. The city will reveal the final master plan to the public in the park on March 27.
