Allegiant Air To End Route At Gateway Airport

Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport is losing a route as of next month. Allegiant Air said it will end its twice-weekly flights between Mesa and Manhattan, Kansas late next month. The Las Vegas-based carrier began service between the two cities last November. It says any customers with reservations after Feb. 23 will be contacted for a full refund.

Manhattan officials said 3,000 passengers used the flights since the service started. Its airport director said Allegiant decided those numbers did not meet its expectations.

Last year, Spirit Airlines left Mesa-Gateway for Sky Harbor Airport. Frontier Airlines also left Gateway last year.
