Glendale is in the running to host the Final Four round of the NCAA men's basketball tournament between 2017 and 2020. The city is among seven in the running to host the games and spokesman Jerry McCoy says Glendale is a natural choice.
“It’d be great to be able to host the Super Bowl in 2015, and then the next year host the College Football Championship game in ’16, so if we can have it in ’17, then it would be the trifecta of all trifectas,” McCoy said.
He notes the work of bringing the Final Four to Glendale is just beginning, with lots of meetings with the NCAA and additional follow-up on the bid specifics, but he says the city is looking forward to a positive outcome for both the city and the state.
