Bob Khan recently announced he is retiring.

Phoenix Fire Chief Bob Khan is retiring. Khan has been a firefighter since 1982 and worked his way up through the ranks. He became fire chief in 2006.

As chief, he oversaw the state’s largest fire department which includes more than 2,000 firefighters and civilian employees. In his retirement letter, Khan said he is leaving to help care for his elderly father who is in poor health. His retirement is effective Feb. 28.
