Construction Begins On Navajo Vet Homes

Construction is about to get underway on some new homes for Navajo veterans.

The signing of a contract for building materials signals the start of the project. The Farmington Daily Times says the Navajo Nation’s Veterans Affairs Department is planning to build 75 homes across the reservation.

The $1.9 million contract will provide the housing material for 75 energy-efficient homes through the end of the year. Each of the homes will have from one to three bedrooms and the building materials are to be delivered in phases to prevent weather damage during construction.

The sprawling reservation spans parts of northeastern Arizona, northwestern New Mexico and southeastern Utah.
