It’s tax season and filing your return can be time consuming and expensive, but there is help available for free.
The AARP Foundation provides assistance at sites around the state, and while the program is mainly aimed at low-and-middle-income seniors, state coordinator Frank Perazelli says everyone is welcome.
“We do not handle returns that include rental income, or farm income or business, other than some self-employment,” Perazelli said. “We will process self-employment income on a Schedule C, as long as the expenses don’t exceed $10,000.”
Both the tax preparation and filing are free. Last year, volunteer counselors from Tax-Aide helped 88,000 Arizonans file their state and federal tax returns.
