Texas-Based Company Recalls 16,000 Pounds Of Meat

Arizonans are being urged to be on the lookout for beef from a Texas-based company that has recalled nearly 16,000 pounds of its product, over concerns of e-coli contamination. David McAtee of the Yavapai County Health Department says the beef, sold by Peterson Food Products, has the establishment number 34715 and was processed between Dec. 5 and Jan. 13. However, he says, businesses are more likely than consumers to have purchased the product.

“Costco could be one of those,” McAtee said. “They do sell the larger 10-pound type boxes. But, a lot of the restaurants buy from these retailers that package large portions of meat.”

The company says it doesn’t know if the product is contaminated, but it was shipped before routine safety tests were conducted.
