Concerns about local and state pension systems has been a national issue. The city of Phoenix recently had conflict among its councilmembers about what should be done to keep the system solvent.
A new study by the nonpartisan Grand Canyon Institute said Arizona’s state pension system is on solid ground. The study is called “Arizona’s Pensions: On Track to Financial Sustainability With Retirement Security.” Its author, Dr. Dave Wells, joined me in studio.

State Rep. John Kavanagh, a Republican from Fountain Hills, is calling for some changes to Arizona’s pension system. He joined me from the state Capitol.
