MCSO Cracks Down On Identify Theft

Three more people have been arrested by Maricopa County Sheriff’s deputies on identity theft charges. Lt. Brandon Jones said 21-year-old Joaquin Cabrera was taken into custody at a Red Robin restaurant in Chandler after a man told detectives he was getting tax bills from the federal government.

“That man was receiving Internal Revenue Service notices in the mail that he owed, he owed taxes, that were over and above what he had, he had already done," said Jones.

Jones said 39-year-old Eduardo Mexicano was arrested at a Chandler bar for using the identity of a man who had been denied social security benefits because he had unreported income the suspect was actually getting. Deputies also arrested another bar worker who was using a false ID.
