Hearings this week on Capitol Hill are looking at the deteriorating situation in Iraq.
Arizona Rep. Matt Salmon says with al-Qaeda taking control there, the key question is how to combat the terrorist group without sending troops back to Iraq.
“The message that we got I think from State Department is that those concerns are real and we have to be looking at what’s the most effective strategy,” Salmon said. “I don’t think the American people have the stomach or the will to recommit troops.”
Arizona Rep. Trent Franks says despite claims from the administration that al-Qaeda was on the run or that it has been decimated, the organization is growing worldwide and is bigger than it used to be.
