Violence In Indian Country Hearing Come To The Valley

Violence in Indian Country will be front and center next week at a public hearing in the Valley. Members of the U.S. Attorney General’s Task Force on American Indian and Alaska Native Children Exposed to Violence will be on the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community on Tuesday. It will be the second of four scheduled hearings. Associate U.S. Attorney General Tony West is among those who will be here.

The task force’s first hearing was in Bismarck in December. After Tuesday’s forum at Talking Stick Resort, there will be ones in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, this spring, and in Anchorage in June. The panel is expected to offer recommendations by late this year.
