Governors from the states of Arizona and Sonora will lead a trade mission to Israel later this year. It is part of a new partnership to promote the two border states as one economic region.
The initiative is called “Global Advantage.” The idea is to recruit foreign tech companies to set up shop in the two-state region. On the Arizona side, the companies can do high level research at a University of Arizona tech park in Tucson. In Sonora, they can access Mexico’s manufacturing and administrative services.
When Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer and Sonora Gov. Guillermo Padres travel to Israel later this year, they will meet with tech companies interested in expanding into the North American market.
