Police in Oro Valley are battling what they call a pretty sophisticated credit card scam. Spokeswoman Kara Riley said they discovered the problem when a victim reported unauthorized charges on a credit card still in that person’s possession.
“They were possibly skimming the information off of the credit card as it’s being used and then within an hour they’d be able to recreate a fraudulent credit card," said Riley.
Riley said police believe the man and woman involved could be part of a much larger scam, which could involve several other people.
