High School Students See Donations To Brain Tumor Research In Action

High school students who have raised $2 million for brain tumor research at Barrow Neurological Institute got a unique peak recently at how the money is being used. Using 3-D teaching technology, doctors at Barrow let them watch brain surgery live. Senior Matthew Barratz said it was especially meaningful to him, after his grandfather died of a brain tumor.

“It’s really a cool thing to see where the actual dollars are going towards because being able to see this live brain surgery is a once in a lifetime, twice in a lifetime opportunity,” Barratz said.

Barrow researcher Doctor Adriene Scheck said it was a unique opportunity to show the students how the money they have raised will eventually help to save lives.
