Warm Temperatures Lead To Early Fire Season

The warm temperatures are causing an early blooming season, allergy season and fire season. Already this week there was a brush fire near Saguaro Lake. Fire expert Dolores Garcia said the peak season usually starts in April.

“Right now our meteorologists are predicting an early start to the season and I think we have seen that some of the weekends here with some fires popping up in an around the valley.”

Garcia said forecasters are comparing this year’s conditions to the 2011 season. That was the year of the Wallow fire which was the largest in Arizona history. Over 530,000 acres burned in forest fires in 2011.
