Zuercher Named New Phoenix City Manager

Phoenix has a new city manager, and the person named will only have a slight change to his title.

Wednesday afternoon, the city council named interim city manager Ed Zuercher as the city’s new top administrator. Zuercher had been serving as interim manager since October, when previous city manager David Cavazos resigned.

Mayor Greg Stanton spoke about Zuercher  being a finalist for the job four years ago.

"Not for  a moment would you ever know that he had applied for the job at the same time as Mr. Cavazos and was unsuccessful," Stanton said of Zuercher. "He was a total team player, totally supportive of the previous city manager and to me that’s the highest level of professionalism."

Zuercher has worked for the city for 20 years starting has a management intern and working his way up through various management positions.
